I would imagine the ASIA organization is starting to give thought to the line-up of speakers and facility requirements for the upcoming ASIA in May 2007.

In light of Brock’s involvement with ASIA I thought this post might generate sufficient OLF membership interest for Brock to speak to ASIA about organizing an “advanced hands on inlay” seminar.

At the last ASIA I was fortunate enough to see Judy Threet speak about inlay design (her lecture was subsequently reproduced as a multi-part Guitarmaker series) as well take in Amy Hopkins hands on lectures. Armed with both I finally had the intestinal fortitude to commit MOP to the jewelers saw and try a more elaborate inlay design of my own.

Is there sufficient interest to see if ASIA could interest someone of Craig Lavin, Paul Bordeaux, Kevin Gallagher, Judy Threet or Grit Laskin’s stature to put on an extra “hands on” seminar at ASIA for an advanced inlay?   I for one would be willing to pay a surcharge to what ASIA normally charges for attending.

Brock if you think this thread belongs in the Off Topic section I won't be offended if you move it.

and talked it up at the last ASIA, but the location is pretty out there for me this year. The cost of attending would be pretty high. Still if anyone is interested and my name is in the pot I'd be up for it if I had some sponsorship, but I know ASIA doesn't work that way I think.
Grit and all those previously have done it gratis- is that correct? If this is a hot topic then just PM me.

I think that presenters get free room and board. Correct me if I'm wrong. In that case the out of pocket expense would be airfare. If you want to do it, drop a line to Bill Moll and see what can be arranged.

Craig, sorry to hear that won't make it this year. It would have been great to see your work again or take in a session if you were speaking.

Mike -- I haven't seen you as of late -- trust you've been well. Good idea I think I'll follow-up directly with Bill Moll. I was hoping to do so armed with interest from more than a couple of OLF members who plan to attend.

If anything comes of my correspondence I'll be sure to report in.
